About the Practice
Who is the “first response” for our first responders? It was clear to Dr. Lucia that as a nation and community we lack “first responder” care to our nation’s heroes.

Behavioral Health and Trauma Recovery Services, P.C., is a mental health therapy practice in Castle Rock, CO. Dr. Denise Lucia is a Licensed Psychologist and she is the Director and Owner of this practice. We opened our doors in 2018 after years of Dr. Lucia serving first responders and members of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as civilians who were the survivors of tragic life events. It was clear several barriers impact the access to mental health care, and Dr. Lucia wanted more autonomy to offer treatment that is clinically indicated without the restrictions that can be placed on care when working in a hospital or managed care setting. Who is the “first response” for our first responders? It was clear to Dr. Lucia that as a nation and community we lack “first responder” care to our nation’s heroes.
Our mission is to remove stigma that comes with accessing care, and to provide individual and couples therapy services to our nation’s first responders and active/prior members of the U.S. Armed Forces, by serving as a “first response” to these often unnamed heroes so they can return to fulfilling their mission and living a life worth living with their family.
Do not worry, if you are not a first responder, active duty member, retiree, and/or veteran, this practice also serves civilians. We encourage you to invest in your daily health by giving us the honor to assist you in modifying unhelpful behaviors and thoughts, and teach you how to implement skills training, so you can effectively address general anxiety or depressive symptoms, worry, daily stress response, major life-cycle transitions, grief/loss, sleep difficulties, and more.
